OUTDOOR FIELD RULES at steeltown
Everything you need to know before stepping onto our outdoor battlefields.

OUR OUTDOOR Safety GUIDELINES

Keep It Fun. Keep It Safe.

These general rules apply to all outdoor field activities to ensure maximum safety, fairness, and fun in our natural terrain.

Outdoor Fields Rules for Steeltown Event Park in Oakdale, PA — Pittsburgh’s top year-round destination for outdoor paintball, outdoor airsoft, outdoor gellyball, group events, parties, team building, and high-energy action on expansive, wooded, and open fields.

All participants must attend the full safety orientation and rules briefing before entering the fields. Listen to staff/referees/coaches — their calls are final.

Full-face masks/goggles required at all times on the active fields (no exceptions — remove it and you're out). Closed-toe shoes mandatory; dress appropriately for weather/terrain (long sleeves/pants recommended for paintball/airsoft to reduce welts/brush scratches).

Absolutely no real firearms, knives, tasers, or personal projectiles allowed. Personal gear (e.g., markers, blasters) must be pre-approved and chronographed if applicable.

Remain inside marked field boundaries at all times. Do not enter restricted/no-play zones, private property, or off-limits areas. Report lost players or issues to staff immediately.

Play continues in light rain unless staff cancels for safety. Watch for uneven ground, roots, mud, holes, and wet/slippery surfaces — move carefully to prevent slips or twists.

Zero tolerance for pushing, shoving, tackling, grappling, or any body contact across all activities. Non-contact sport only — violations result in immediate removal.

When hit (direct or per activity rules), raise hands/weapon overhead, yell “HIT!” or “DEAD!”, and exit to the safe/dead zone quickly. No wiping, faking, or resuming play — cheating leads to ejection.

No littering, damaging trees, structures, or natural features. Pick up your trash/paintball shells/BBs/gellets. No excessive noise, foul language, or disruptive behavior in our family-friendly park.

Referees (in high-visibility gear) enforce rules, chrono guns (where required), and handle disputes. Their decisions are final — arguing or ignoring calls results in penalties or removal.

Stay hydrated — bring water (no glass). Take breaks as needed; heat, fatigue, or injury ends your play. Notify staff if you feel unwell.
