We know you’ve got questions, especially if you’ve never tried paintball before.  Luckily, we’ve compiled a handy list of some of the most common questions! If you can’t find the answer to your question here, feel free to call us at (412) 443-9287. Our goal is for you to have a fun-filled, safe experience and that begins with knowledge!

What is Paintball?

Paintball is a type of extreme sport. Two opposing teams compete using paintball markers that are powered by compressed air. The markers propel a safe, non-toxic, washable gelatin capsule filled with water based paint. Opponents are eliminated when they are marked by the paintballs. Marker hits as well as goggles hits do count as an elimination.

Who Can Play?

Our facility offers fun competition for everyone!

Age Minimums:

  • Laser Tag: All Ages
  • Low Impact (.50 Caliber): 8  years old
  • Standard Paintball (.68 Caliber): 10 years old
  • Haunted Hunt: 10 years old

Anyone under the age of 18 must also have their legal guardian sign a release waiver form.

What Should I Bring?

We recommend that each player wear clothing that covers most of the body, such as jeans, long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts, or hoodies. The less exposed skin, the better!

We supply your safety gear as part of your entrance fee.

Can I Bring My Own Equipment and Paintballs?

Allowed Equipment – You can bring your own paintball markers and goggles. However, you must have goggles that are manufactured specifically for paintball.

Non-Permissible Equipment – You may not bring your own paintballs. Our facility sells reasonably priced paintballs – this allows us to regulate the type of ammo used in order to prevent injuries.

How Much Does a Case of Paint Cost?

A case of paint costs $80. However, season pass holders get 25% off.

Does Low Impact Paintball Hurt?

A bit. It can sting – the feeling is similar to getting snapped with a rubber band or towel.

Since most of our play is with low impact .50 caliber paintballs, the sting is less intense. Again, we recommend dressing for the occasion, the less exposed skin the better!

What's The Schedule For Airsoft?

At the indoor and outdoor facility, players can enjoy open play on both Saturdays and Sundays. We do ask that you call ahead to confirm the number of players participating in the sport.

If you’re looking to play during the week you can book a private party ( of 8 or more people) to play airsoft.

Are Reservations Necessary to Book a Paintball Party?

We do allow walk-on players (particularly for our standard .68 caliber paintball, and airsoft play), but we recommend making an online reservation – we make it super easy!

Does the Paint Wash Out?

Yes, it does. Surprisingly enough, paintballs don’t actually contain paint. They are composed of a gelatin capsule (like a liquid gel pain reliever) and the inside is a product called PEG.

PEG is a food grade synthetic oil filler. While PEG may leave small grease-like marks, you won’t have to worry about hot pink or neon green stains on your clothing. The paintballs we use are non-staining, no-pigment, and non-toxic.

However, we don’t recommend wearing your *nice* clothes.

What if I'm Coming with a Small Group?

We do our best to accommodate groups of all sizes. However, we always recommend making a reservation.

Our goal is to make sure that your group is matched with other groups of the same size and skill set.

Can I Sign the Waiver for Someone?

That’s a negative, Ghost Rider.

Each adult over the age of 18 must sign his or her own waiver. For minors under the age of 18, only a parent or legal guardian can sign the waiver. You can easily fill out a waiver by using our online Waiver Form.

I Have Multiple Kids. Do I Need to Fill Out a Waiver for Each One?

We make it simple – if you’re filling out a waiver for minors, you can add up to up six children to one parent or legal guardian’s waiver form.

However, if you are hosting a party, we require that the parent or legal guardian of each participant complete the form.

Do You Have a Party Room?

It’s dependent on the facility! We do not have rooms available at the outdoor location facility. However, we have plenty of picnic tables, some of which are covered.  For the indoor facility, we do offer private party areas. If you’re booking a party with us, please let us know how much seating you require.

Can We Bring Food?

Of course! You can bring in your own food, hire a caterer or order in delivery!

However, we do not allow alcoholic beverages at any time.

Can We Bring Decorations? How About a Cooler?

Of course! As long as you pick up and take home what you bring, you can decorate to your heart’s content!

We allow coolers, but again – no alcohol is allowed on site.

How Long are Parties?

We don’t have time limits on our parties, but on average, they last 2 1/2 to 3 hours. We allow users to purchase additional paintballs if they want to keep the party goin’!

How Long Does a Paintball Supply Last?

Are you a “sipper” or a “gulper?” It all depends on you!

How aggressive do you play? If you’ve got a bit of an itchy trigger finger, you’ll go through them fast. However, on average, 125 paintballs per hour is a good estimate.

Can We Bring Adult Beverages?

Our insurance and licensing does not allow alcohol consumption on-site.

How Do Waivers Work?

All players must sign a waiver before being able to play at Steeltown Paintball Park. We only accept online waivers which can be filled out HERE. Once you have filled out the waiver, you do not have to fill one out for an entire year! We will be verifying everyone’s waiver by First name, Last name, and Date of Birth.

Are Private Sessions Available?

We are willing to accommodate groups and birthday parties by opening the field to them on specific days of the week for private sessions if requested. Please contact us at least one week prior to the session. You can contact us via email at steeltownpaintballeventpark@gmail.com or by scheduling over the phone at (412) 443-9287.
