THE BASICS

Paintball is a type of extreme sport. Two opposing teams compete using paintball markers that are powered by compressed air. The markers propel a safe, non-toxic, washable gelatin capsule filled with water based paint. Opponents are eliminated when they are marked by the paintballs. Marker hits as well as goggles hits do count as an elimination.

Our facility offers fun competition for everyone!

Age Minimums:

  • Gellyball: 4  years old
  • Low Impact (.50 Caliber): 8  years old
  • Standard Paintball (.68 Caliber): 10 years old
  • Haunted Hunt: 10 years old

Anyone under the age of 18 must also have their legal guardian sign a release waiver form.

  1. Gellyball – 4 and older
  2. Airsoft/Paintball – 10 and older

Yes, your reservation is an estimate. All players will still need to fill out an online waiver.

Outdoor – 500 Huntington Ave Pittsburgh, PA 15202

You should arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time. This will allow us to get everyone checked in for your party.

PLAN YOUR VISIT

We recommend that each player wear clothing that covers most of the body, such as jeans, long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts, or hoodies. The less exposed skin, the better!

We supply your safety gear as part of your entrance fee.

Allowed Equipment – You can bring your own paintball markers and goggles. However, you must have goggles that are manufactured specifically for paintball.

Non-Permissible Equipment – You may not bring your own paintballs. Our facility sells reasonably priced paintballs – this allows us to regulate the type of ammo used in order to prevent injuries.

  1. Gellyball Package – Guns, goggles, 2 hours of play, and either 2,280 rounds or unlimited
  2. Low impact/Standard Paintball Packages – 2-3 hours of play, marker, goggles, and 300 rounds of paint per person.

Anything that you can get dirty. There are times you could be rolling or kneeling in the mud.

  1. We don’t close for any type of weather.
  2. If while you are playing and lighting strikes, play will stop for at least 30 minutes from the last seen lightning bolt.
  1. Monday through Friday, we require a reservation.
  2. Saturday and Sunday, we recommend reserving your spot.

Paintball

Yes, your marker will need to be chrono’d before playing.

We do allow walk-on players (particularly for our standard .68 caliber paintball, and airsoft play), but we recommend making an online reservation – we make it super easy!

  1. Low Impact/Standard Paintball/Airsoft – It’s very common for players to feel a slight sting similar to a firm flick on the arm. The pain is minor and typically fades quickly.
  2. Gellyball – Virtually no sting!

A bit. It can sting – the feeling is similar to getting snapped with a rubber band or towel.

Since most of our play is with low impact .50 caliber paintballs, the sting is less intense. Again, we recommend dressing for the occasion, the less exposed skin the better!

The Paint

Are you a “sipper” or a “gulper?” It all depends on you!

How aggressive do you play? If you’ve got a bit of an itchy trigger finger, you’ll go through them fast. However, on average, 250 paintballs per hour is a good estimate.

A case of paint costs $80.

No, paint must be purchased directly through Steeltown.

Yes, it does. Surprisingly enough, paintballs don’t actually contain paint. They are composed of a gelatin capsule (like a liquid gel pain reliever) and the inside is a product called PEG.

PEG is a food grade synthetic oil filler. While PEG may leave small grease-like marks, you won’t have to worry about hot pink or neon green stains on your clothing. The paintballs we use are non-staining, no-pigment, and non-toxic.

However, we don’t recommend wearing your *nice* clothes.

No, Paintballs are no stain, nontoxic, and biodegradable

Schedule

At the outdoor facility, players can enjoy open play on both Saturdays and Sundays. We do ask that you call ahead to confirm the number of players participating in the sport.

If you’re looking to play during the week, you can book a private party (8 or more people) to play airsoft.

We do our best to accommodate groups of all sizes. However, we always recommend making a reservation.

Our goal is to make sure that your group is matched with other groups of the same size and skill set.

Waiver

That’s a negative, Ghost Rider.

Each adult over the age of 18 must sign his or her own waiver. For minors under the age of 18, only a parent or legal guardian can sign the waiver. You can easily fill out a waiver by using our online Waiver Form.

We make it simple – if you’re filling out a waiver for minors, you can add up to up six children to one parent or legal guardian’s waiver form.

However, if you are hosting a party, we require that the parent or legal guardian of each participant complete the form.

All players must sign a waiver before being able to play at Steeltown Paintball Park. We only accept online waivers which can be filled out HERE. Once you have filled out the waiver, you do not have to fill one out for an entire year! We will be verifying everyone’s waiver by First name, Last name, and Date of Birth.
